Today has been quite bad. I woke up with the worst stomach ache I've had in months and it didn't help that it was freezing cold and grey. The only thing I can really do to lessen the effects is to rest, which usually means staying completely still and eventually falling to sleep. Only that was nearly impossible due to a large murder of crows that decided to land in the field next to my house. They were very loud.
I did go to look at how many were around and spotted some in the trees. I thought it would make for an interesting shot so I grabbed my camera. Crows seem to go well with dark and moody themes and combined with the foggy background, it had an almost silhouette effect going on.
When I got back inside, I found Baggins happily sitting in the wash basket. He knows he's not allowed in there but sneaks in whenever it's quiet. He had this surprised expression on his little face, like he knew he had been caught.
Over the weekend, I tried something I haven't tried before and that was putting a plastic bag over the lens of my camera. At first I couldn't get the camera to focus, which is to be expected as there is no focal point, so what I did first was to frame my shot as I would normally, then place the plastic over the lens. Because the bag would make me lose about 1 stop of light, I had to compensate for that too. The overall results were interesting, abstract and turned out nothing like their original subjects.
